Aaron Proctor, director of photography, is based in Los Angeles but also has a professional network in San Francisco and New York City. Since his first film screened in 1999, he has worked with all flavors of film and digital video, from 35mm to Red and has also worked internationally in Paris, Florence and London. He is a graduate of UCLA and studied film, new media, and design extensively. His interest in telling stories extends to any form of distribution — be it on the screen, on the web, or on the tube.
Aaron brings an artful style, especially with composition, color and movement. Collaborative process is important and he see constraints as opportunity for creativity. He has experience with multiple formats and versatile styles, working with the director's needs and the production's opportunities. Budget and time are limitations he embraces, providing options calmly under pressure is something for which he strives. Aaron rolls with the punches because he loves what he does.
In 2005, he founded FWD:labs, a collective for cinema artists and their work in film, web, and design. He also edits a blog called Fast Forward and hosts bi-weekly salon in Los Angeles.
